A lounge chair by Jorge Luis Cruzata for Siglo Moderno. The chair debuted in 2024 as part of a group exhibition at Art Center College of Design.
It was born from enwrapping and morphing an earlier lounge chair creation, Silla Pista. Taking inspiration from a Francis Bacon painting, the upholstery is manipulated to swallow and rapture the wood frame. It is created through the use of traditional craftsmanship.
In Spanish, FIGURAS means FIGURES. This incarnation of the lounge chair references the Francis Bacon painting Two Figures On a Couch (1967) from the Couplings Series.
